ELEMENT—Line: Parallel Line
Describing FORM: What is the specific communicative strategy? Where is it found?
Parallel lines are lines that move in the same direction with any distance in-between each other. Truly parallel lines will, in theory, will never cross. The parallel lines here are expressed as the parallelograms that echo each other throughout the garment.
Discussing CONTENT: What does it communicate?
The reflecting rectangles give the impression of staring down a mirror or possibly, in a more esoteric fashion, travelling through a portal. They evoke a feeling of heaviness and hollowness as it creates depth within the piece, as if we’re on one end of a long hall or the edge of an incredibly deep, black pool. Its powerful repetition is foreboding.
