Rectilinear shape have boundaries that consist of straight lines and angular corners.
Typically, the first thing noticed in this scene is the massive building cut into the side of a mountain as well as the bridge leading to it. Here we see the easily recognizable use of rectilinear shapes. Discussing CONTENT: What does it communicate?
Rectilinear shapes are often used to denote stability, strength and/or industry and civilization. Seen here is the obvious use of such shapes which immediately cause the viewer to feel a sense of awe at the impressive size and imposing architecture carved directly into the stone mountain.
