Principle-Balance:Asymmetrical Balance by Texture
Describing FORM: What is the specific commutative strategy? Where is it found?
Textures that are more complex than others are seen as having more visual weight. In contrast though, smooth textures will appear to be lighter even if they take up more space. This image from the movie, Misunderstood is an example of that since it has smooth textures on the girl's clothes and complex textures on the wall element. The girl is also a lighter shade than the wall decoration, which helps to balance the image.
Discussing CONTENT: What does it communicate?
This image communicates a feeling of loneliness with a sense of acomplishment, as if this girl is on her own but she can handle herself better now because of what she has gone through. Without the ornamental wall piece, the image would just feel lonely though. By putting that piece in there it makes the whole scene feel more balanced and whole, and also strengthens the story that it is trying to communicate.
