Principle: Focal Point - Focal point by contrast/placement
Describing FORM: What is the specific communicative strategy? Where is it found?
A focal point is the center of interest; it is what catches our eye and holds our attention. A focal point by contrast happens when one object or area differs from the rest, as where a focal point by placement is when the placement of objects leads our eyes to one subject or area. While I understand this image is predominately focal by contrast, easily deduced by the white skin and blonde hair of Daenerys Targaryen in the center contrasted against the more modest ragtag garments and darker tones of the formal slaves surrounding her. Though I also decided to include focal by placement, for even if Daenerys didn't stand out like she did, the lines of all the many hands lead the viewers attention towards her.
Discussing CONTENT: What does it communicate?:
For me I get a strong sense of hope and power. Daenerys is clearly out of her element with a foreign people, but there is nothing to fear. The throngs of now liberated slaves tell us that they are accepting her, not harming her, praising her, as well as thanking her. They want to be near the Mother of Dragons, and now the Breaker of Chains.
