PRINCIPLE: Illusion of Motion - Kinesthetic Empathy
Describing FORM: What is the specific communicative strategy? Where is it found?
The illusion of motion is the representation of an action, or the process of moving. Kinesthetic empathy is an unconscious reaction we feel in our body; we feel as well as see the action. It is found here in the form a raging wild battle with a lot of moving parts.
Discussing CONTENT: What does it communicate?
A stampede of horses is rarely a good thing to begin with, add to that a horde of Dothraki not only arching bows back but doing so standing up on horseback. It's impressive and also terrifying. This image represents a sense of ferocious energy and urgency. It puts us right in the action. The slight blur of the horses tails and manes gives the impression that this horde is moving at full speed, and no doubt towards an enemy.
