PRINCIPLE-- BIRD’S EYE POINT OF VIEW
Discussing FORM: What is the specific communicative strategy? Where is it found?
The specific communicative strategy displayed is Bird’s Eye Point of View. Bird’s Eye Point of View is when the content gives you the illusion that the subject is “looking up” at you, of which you think you are looking down at the subject. This is displayed because of the method this photo was captured, it gives the illusion that the model is looking up at the viewer and the viewers are looking down at the model.
Discussing CONTENT: What does it communicate?
Bird’s Eye Point of View is usually captivating because it gives the illusion that there’s a lot of space within the content. The content of which you are looking at could seem larger than it actually is or a little bit overwhelming because we perceive it as more space than there really is. The image below was inspired by Alice In Wonderland, when Alice fell. Looking at it from a Bird’s Eye Point of View, we think that the model is still falling, even floating maybe. From the perspective we see it at, it’s hypnotizing and makes you want to stare at it in awe forever.
