PRINCIPLE: Illusion of Space - Shallow Space/Worm's Eye View
Describing FORM: What is the specific communicative strategy? Where is it found?
The illusion of space is the representation of depth on a 2-dimensional surface. Shallow space occurs when the distance between foreground and background appear to be close together, and a worm's eye view occurs when we are looking up at something. It can be found here by the very low camera angle looking up.
Discussing CONTENT: What does it communicate?
Here we have an internal view point, which makes us, the viewer feel as though we are in the trunk looking up at these three gentlemen. With the shallow space created, one almost gets a claustrophobic sense. While they appear to be smiling and in good spirits, nothing about this situation makes you feel safe or secure.
